Willard Sollars, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior”, was born September 2, 1947. He joined his youngest son, Kevin Willard Lee Sollars, in Heaven, on June 19, 2019, at 12:12 p.m., surrounded by his family that he loved fiercely.
Junior loved to play music. He was an excellent, life-long, guitar player. He was instrumental in starting two bands: The Creepers and the Coal Creek Holler Boys, along with his friend of 66 years, Frank Hensley. Junior’s dad, who was his namesake, was their manager. In 2007, Willard was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musician’s Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Elaine ( McCombs) Sollars; two sons, Antonio “Tony” and Troy, along with daughter- in-law’s Audra and Beth, respectively; a sister, Shirley Langman, a nephew, Ernest “Tug” Jones. Grandchildren include: Kyra Havens, Kaitlyn Sollars, Briar and Gabe Sollars, Zoie Sollars, Koby and Kolsyn Sollars, Brady Cole, Ryan Shaw, and Jon ( Carly) & Beth Beal. Great- grandchildren are Kylie, Kevin and Korbyn Cheeseman, as well as Addison and Cooper Beal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Virginia; two sisters, Susie and Patricia; one brother, Rob, as well as a niece, Christine Jones. He will be missed by all.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana. A celebration of life will follow with Reverend Dennis Leek officiating.
