William Edward Decker

September 3, 1936 — January 20, 2022

West Terre Haute

William “Ed” Edward Decker, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin, and farmer, passed away in his home with devoted wife by his side on January 20, 2022 at the age of 85 years old.
Ed was born to George Decker and June Hawk in September of 1936.
Ed is survived by his wife of 61 years, Victorine Katherine, his three children, Michael Decker (Jackie), David Decker (Shelley), and Janet Otte (Brian), brother George Decker (Gayle), sister Rita Bedwell (Bill), as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Rita, brother Fred Decker and a great grandson.
Ed was an employee of Vectren Gas Company where he retired after 36 years of service. He was also passionate about farming and proud of the farm him and his family built and worked on throughout the years. He loved a good cup of coffee and good conversation about farming, oil, and local land history. Some of his proudest accomplishments in life were his kids and grandkids. He could often be seen sporting a West Vigo shirt or hat and took any opportunity he could to brag about his family. The highlight of his summer was spending weeks at the surrounding fairgrounds where he enjoyed supporting his grandkids and other 4-Hers in the Vigo County Livestock Auction.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has been chosen and a dinner will be held at a later date. In his honor his family asks that you get involved with and make donations to local 4-H clubs.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
