Phyllis Dickerson, 96, of West Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Westminster Village Healthcare.
She was born February 25, 1927 in Terre Haute to Arthur DeMougin and Eva Louise Wagner DeMougin.
Phyllis was a lifetime and the oldest living member of Bethany United Church of Christ. She sang in the choir and played the organ and piano. She was also a member of the Home Economics Club. Phyllis worked as a phone operator at Bell Telephone and had also worked as an elevator operator. She was a foster parent for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, puzzles, collecting porcelain dolls and loved butterflies. Phyllis cherished her family. She especially enjoyed going to the river and other activities with her granddaughter, Mary, and her great granddaughter, Britney.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Dickerson, Sr.; her son, Carl Dickerson, Jr.; her grandson; Carl Dickerson III; her stepdaughter, Susan Kreisher; her step granddaughter, Lindsey Owens; step grandson, William Pinegar; and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Goodwin Dickerson; and brothers, Lawrence, William, and Ernie De Mougin.
She is survived by her step daughters, Patricia Black, and Cheryl Eitnier; granddaughter, Mary VanVactor (Doug); step grandchildren, Jason Pinegar, Chris, Melissa, Steven, Amy, Mike and Les; her great grandchildren, Britney Dickerson, Aubriona Dickerson, Keifer Dickerson (LeAnn), Seth Thornton, Hailey VanVactor, Devin VanVactor, and Colton VanVactor; step great grandchildren, Faith, Cotton, Alissa, Zoe and Kinsley. She is also survived by great great grandchildren, Melanie, Camilah, Hadley, Korben, McKinley, Declan, Remi, Octavia, and Sebastian.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 1: 00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
